Another track record for Spitfire Oversees

What a ride for the 21 fractional owners of Spitfire Oversees as he became the fastest male trotter in Miami Valley history when he blazed to a 1:51.1 victory over the Ohio raceway on Monday, March 4.

Driver Brett Miller sent the four-year-old International Moni-Legal Lady gelding to the lead from post five in a $32,432 conditioned trot, clearing at the :27.3 quarter mark and drawing away from the competition after a :56.2 half with a sprint to three-quarters 1:23. They kept on rolling through the stretch, widening their margin to a dozen lengths by the end of the record mile.

Spitfire Oversees’ career-best 1:51.1 winning time was the second fastest mile by a trotter at Miami Valley Raceway, only behind Atlanta’s 1:50.4 victory in the 2019 Miami Valley Distaff Trot.

Trained by Stacey Van Huizen, the trotter has won three of his eight seasonal starts at Miami Valley and now boasts 10 career victories with more than a $250K in earnings.

He is a son of International Money out of the Deweycheatumnhowe mare Legal Lady. He has been with TheStable.ca since he was purchased as a yearling at the Harrisburg Sale for $25,000.
